DAY Two

Drive 1 hour 20 minutes to Tiger Moth Flight

Experience Mandeville from the air in a Tiger Moth Flight. Don a leather jacket, helmet & goggles and experience the thrill of a flight in an open cockpit Tiger Moth.

Drive 1 hour 30 minutes to Catlins Surf

Whether a first time surfer or an experienced one, Curio Bay has the perfect swells to suit everyone. Unsure about surfing? Why not give stand up paddle boarding a go and enjoy all that the bay has to offer.

Drive 2 minutes to Petrified Forest, Curio Bay

The fossilized trees you can see at the Petrified Forest were alive around 170 million years ago when New Zealand was part of the Gondwana super continent. Massive sheet floods of volcanic debris are believed to have destroyed the forest. In the millions of years since, the sediments were buried deeply and eventually turned the wood to rock.

Drive 35 minutes to Cathedral Caves Walk

Cathedral Caves are a highlight for visitors to The Catlins. Located in cliffs at the northern end of pristine Waipati Beach, they have attracted international interest for their length – the two sea-formed passages together measure just on 200 metres – and their impressive height, up to 30 metres. But be sure to check the tides when planning to visit!

Drive 35 minutes to Purakaunui Falls (20min return)

Framed by native forest and cascading 20 metres over 3 tiers the Purakauni Falls are one of Southland’s most iconic and photographed sights. From the carpark to the waterfalls upper platform is an easy 10 minute walk which is perfect for the whole family and suitable for people of all abilities.

Day THREE

Start at Mohua Park Beach, Bush & Waterfall Tour (5-6hr)

Offering off the beaten track wilderness experiences, spend the day experiencing all of the wildlife the Catlin’s has to offer. Take time to enjoy this guided beach, bush & waterfall tour and keep an eye out for sea lions, Hector’s dolphins, and yellow eyed penguins along the way!
